About

I work as a Senior Research Fellow with the Digital Learning Lab, Northumbria University, UK. My research is about the design and use of innovative digital technologies, in particular digital games, augmented and virtual realities for learning STEM subjects. I am also interested in the integration of digital tools in formal learning environments and how the digital literacy of practicing and in-training teachers can be understood and enhanced.

For two years, I worked as a senior researcher for NUSTEM - a science outreach project in the North East of England. I developed tools to capture all kinds of data from STEM activities and interventions, particularly analysing and evaluating data from secondary schools to inform the level of science capital amongst young people in the region. I now work with NUSTEM to see how their model of science engagement could be adapted in African countries.

I recently successfully defended a PhD in Computer Science at the Faculty of Engineering and Environment at Northumbria University. My research focus was on how serious games could be used to create an engaging learning experience in primary schools.

Currently, I teach Web Technologies and Systems Analysis at the Computer and Information Sciences department, Northumbria University. I also supervise BSc and MSc students' projects around serious games, augmented reality and technology-enhanced learning. I also work as the main researcher on the BRIDGE PROJECT and run a widening participation project in Nigeria stem.ng
